HOW CAN I ENROLL IN  MEDICARE?

You are eligible to enroll in Medicare when you are turning 65. At that time, you have a 7-month Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) to sign up for Part A and Part B. Your enrollment period starts 3 months before the month that you turn 65 and ends 3 months after the month in which you turn 65.  This gives you a seven-month enrollment window. If you wait until the month you turn 65 or longer to enroll, your Medicare Part B coverage will be delayed potentially leaving a gap in your coverage.

WHAT DOES MEDICARE COVER?

Traditional Medicare provides basic coverage, but there are gaps leaving you responsible for some portion of your healthcare costs.  Because of these gaps,  many people enroll in a Medicare Advantage or Medigap Supplemental Plan that helps pay for costs not covered by traditional Medicare.

Medicare Part A

Hospital insurance covers inpatient hospital stays including acute hospital, skilled nursing, inpatient mental health care, and hospice.

Medicare Part B

Medical insurance which covers doctor visits, surgeries, lab work, scans, chemotherapy, home health services, ambulance, preventive services, and annual wellness visits.

Medicare Part C

Medicare Advantage covers everything Part A & B covers but with a different deductible, co-pays, and co-insurance structure.

Medicare Part D

Medicare Part D is your Rx drug coverage. You can enroll in a standalone prescription drug plan or enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan that includes Part D coverage
